Since 1994 Italian and foreign artists have been invited to live in the valley and leave a work behind. Not in a gallery: inside the landscape.

The idea belongs to Sebastiano De Laurentiis, an artist from Roccascalegna: to treat the valley at the foot of the Maiella as a laboratory. The artists stay on the spot, choose the place, and only then make the work. The works stay where they are — exposed to the light, the wind and the seasons, which are part of them.
